daikin fit not heating

Why Is My Daikin Fit Not Heating?

If your Daikin Fit system isn’t heating like it should, I know how frustrating that can be. Especially during cold days, having reliable heat is essential for comfort and peace of mind. At Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing, we understand the importance of keeping your home cozy and comfortable. Our family-owned company, serving Evansville, IN, since 1949, has built a solid reputation by providing top-notch service to our customers. Let’s dive into some common reasons why your Daikin Fit may not be heating properly and how to address these issues. Common Reasons Your Daikin Fit Isn’t Heating There are a few main reasons your Daikin Fit might not be warming up your home. Let’s go through each one, so you can understand the possible issues and how to resolve them. 1. Thermostat Settings Need Adjusting It might sound simple, but the thermostat settings can sometimes be the issue. Ensure that your thermostat is set to “Heat” mode and that the temperature is set a few degrees higher than the current room temperature. If it’s set on “Auto” mode, it could be switching between heating and cooling. Setting it specifically to “Heat” will make sure it’s focused on warming your space. If your thermostat isn’t responding or the display seems dim, it might be time to replace the batteries. Dead batteries are a quick and easy fix, and often overlooked. 2. Clogged or Dirty Air Filters One of the most common causes of heating issues is a dirty or clogged air filter. If your filter is full of dust and debris, it can restrict airflow, causing the system to work harder and heat less effectively. Dirty filters not only lower heating efficiency but can also damage other parts of the system over time. To check, remove the filter and hold it up to a light source. If you can’t see much light through it, it’s time to replace it. Regular filter changes every few months can help keep your Daikin Fit running smoothly and heating effectively. 3. Blocked Outdoor Unit The Daikin Fit system relies on an outdoor unit to help with heating, even during winter. Leaves, dirt, or snow could block airflow, making it hard for the system to do its job. Check the outdoor unit to ensure it’s clear of any obstructions. Gently clear away any debris and keep the surrounding area free of clutter. In winter, make sure that snow and ice aren’t covering the unit. Sometimes, snow can accumulate on top of the unit, making it work harder than it should. 4. Refrigerant Levels Are Low The refrigerant level in your Daikin Fit system is crucial for heating. Low refrigerant can lead to issues with both heating and cooling. If you suspect a refrigerant problem, look out for these signs: reduced airflow, longer heating times, or strange noises from the unit. Unlike other DIY fixes, refrigerant issues require professional attention. Handling refrigerant improperly can be dangerous, so if you think this might be the issue, it’s best to give us a call. 5. Faulty or Broken Parts Your Daikin Fit system has several parts that could wear out over time, such as the compressor, fans, or sensors. When one of these components fails, the entire system may struggle to provide the heat you need. Listen for any unusual sounds, like rattling or squeaking, which could indicate a loose or faulty part. If you notice any strange noises or if the unit stops working altogether, it’s time to schedule a repair. At Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing, our team can quickly identify and fix any broken parts, getting your heat back up and running as soon as possible. When to Call for Professional Daikin Fit Repair While some of these issues, like adjusting the thermostat or replacing a filter, can be tackled on your own, others require a professional touch. If your Daikin Fit is still not heating after trying the above solutions, it’s likely that there’s a more serious issue at play. heat pump not cooling

Solutions for a Heat Pump that Isn’t Cooling

Solutions for a Heat Pump that Isn’t Cooling Folks in the Evansville, Indiana area know that if they want to stay cool and comfortable during our hot and muggy summer, their heat pump needs to be in top operating condition. Fortunately, Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing has a solid reputation for providing not only quality products, but top-notch service and repairs as well. That’s why when your heat pump stops cooling, you should call us. When a heat pump fails to cool, it can be a frustrating experience. Several factors can contribute to this issue. Brackett offers the following checklist to help locate the problem and make your home comfortable again. First, check the thermostat. It may seem basic, but it’s possible someone in the home accidently changed the mode of operation or the desired temperature, so ensure the thermostat is set to “cooling” mode and the temperature is set lower than the current room temperature.  Secondly, check out the air filter. A clogged or dirty air filter restricts airflow, reducing the cooling capacity of the heat pump. Air filters should be inspected and cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically from one to three months. Scheduling regular inspections and cleaning is necessary for your heat pump to cool effectively. Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing offers a comprehensive maintenance plan, so you can have confidence in your heat pump’s performance.  Next, examine the outdoor unit. Clear away any debris, leaves, or obstructions around the outdoor unit. When the unit is blocked by tall vegetation, airflow can be impeded. Additionally, make sure the outdoor unit is not covered or obstructed by any objects. Check the condensate drain line for any clogs or blockages, which can cause water to back up and interfere with the cooling process. Blockages can be cleared using a small brush or a mixture of vinegar and water; or, if you don’t feel comfortable with DIY solutions, call Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing to schedule a heat pump repair. Another solution is to have the refrigerant levels checked since low refrigerant levels can hinder the heat pump’s ability to cool efficiently. This is best done by professional technicians, who have the specialized training and equipment.  To get your heat pump back on track, the quickest solution is to contact the trained technicians at Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing. They can diagnose and address any underlying problems with the heat pump such as a malfunctioning compressor, faulty electrical components or other technical issues. Brackett can also handle  regular maintenance and servicing of the heat pump. Following the manufacturer’s guidelines and scheduling professional maintenance at least once a year can help identify and rectify potential problems before they escalate. Schedule your cooling repair, replacement or maintenance by calling Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing today.

3 Most Common Water Heater Issues & What To Do

3 Most Common Water Heater Issues & What To Do

3 Most Common Water Heater Issues & What To Do Water heaters are essential appliances, providing hot water for various daily tasks such as bathing, washing clothes and dishes and for general cleaning. However, they can sometimes experience issues that impact their efficiency or functionality. The three most common water heater issues include lack of hot water, discolored or smelly water and leaking tanks. The most common problem with water heaters is a lack of hot water or inconsistent water temperatures. There are several potential causes for this problem, including a malfunctioning thermostat, a broken heating element or a faulty gas valve. To address this issue, first, check the thermostat setting to ensure it’s at the correct temperature (usually around 120°F or 49°C). If the setting is correct, the next step is to inspect the heating elements (for electric water heaters) or the gas valve and pilot light (for gas water heaters). If you’re not comfortable handling these components, call the professional plumbers at Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing to diagnose the problem and complete a water heater repair. Discolored or smelly water can result from rust or sediment buildup in the tank or from bacteria growth in the water supply. Rust-colored water usually indicates corroding anode rods, while a rotten egg smell points to bacteria reacting with the anode rod’s magnesium or aluminum. To resolve this issue, start by flushing the tank to remove sediment buildup. If the problem persists, consider replacing the anode rod with a new one, preferably made of a different material like powered anode rod, which is less likely to cause odor issues. If the smell is persistent, contact Brackett to inspect and sanitize the water heater and plumbing system. Leaks in water heaters can be caused by various factors, such as corrosion, loose connections or excessive pressure. Small leaks might originate from the pressure relief valve, while more severe leaks are often due to a corroded or damaged tank. To address a leak, first, inspect the connections and valves for any loose or damaged components, and tighten or replace them if necessary. If the leak is coming from the tank itself a repair isn’t the best course of action. It’s time to schedule a new water installation with Brackett.  Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify leaks and other water heater issues before they become severe problems. For a water heater repair or replacement, call Brackett Heating, Air & Plumbing and schedule an appointment today.

The Joy of Giving

As some of you in the Tristate have seen we ran a giveaway during December to donate a new Heating and Cooling System to someone in need. After receiving over 75 nominations we printed them out and read all of the stories. Many of the applicants were very deserving but we had to narrow it down to just one. We contacted 5 families and did an in home assessment of their equipment and met with them to hear their needs. One of the families stuck out to me. He had no heat and was keeping the house from freezing by turning on the oven with the door open and using oil space heaters in the room. Even though he had no heat, when I left, he told me that he was thankful for what we were doing and that he knew that there were a lot of needy people and to give it to the family that needed it the most. As I was lying in bed that evening that comment kept playing over and over in my head. When I came in the next day I shared that comment with our team and they agreed that the Wozniak Family was our pick. They had been nominated by their Daughter to receive the free system because they were raising 5 of their grandchildren in a home that hasn’t had heat since last March. The installation posed many obstacles with the house being built in the late 1800’s. They had been renting the house for 11 years before purchasing the house on contract the year before. When they moved to the house, the entire basement was filled with the past renters belongings and trash that they did not take with them when they moved out. When informing them that they had won the system, I talked to Teddy about cleaning out the basement so that we would have room to work. He agreed, but after leaving I didn’t really know if that was going to be a possibility unless he had help. So we contacted Advanced Disposal the next day and asked if they would be interested in partnering with us to help the Wozniak Family out.  Joey Scott replied to my email over the weekend and was very excited to help us out on the project. He went to the house to see where the dumpster could be placed and came to the conclusion that a 6 yard dumpster was the largest that could fit on the property. I contacted Theodore and let him know the plan. We arrived at the house the day prior to installation and removed 3 ½ dumpsters of debris out of the basement. We removed the old ceiling from the basement and all of the return ductwork that was loaded with dirt. Only half of the supply ductwork was useable and many of the supply runs had to be replaced with insulated ductwork. The Crawlspace was cleaned and a vapor barrier was installed to keep moisture and odors from the living space. Insulation Board was cut to fit all of the single pane windows in the basement to prevent cold air from entering the home. Water lines were insulated with armoflex insulation to prevent sweating. The entire basement was cleaned and vacuumed out to give all of the children a place that they could feel safe walking into in case of a storm. Lennox had provided a High Efficient Gas Furnace and Air Conditioner to keep them comfortable all year long. After finishing the job that Friday evening, I could tell that the family was so excited and appreciative. There is truly no amount of money that can buy the feeling you get back when you help out someone in need. All the hard work was worth it. Thank you Tristate for the help in finding a Family to help out this Holiday Season. Thank you Lennox for providing the Equipment. Thank you Advanced Disposal for the dumpster so we could clean out the basement. Congratulations to the Wozniak Family, I hope you love your new system. Thanks, Bryce BrackettGeneral ManagerBrackett Heating and Air Conditioning

Brackett Gives Away Furnace to Family In Need

Brackett Heating and Air has been keeping the people of the Tri-State comfortable for over 60 years. We love being a part of this community, and that’s why we decided to give away a free furnace to a family in need this past January. We asked the community to send us nominations of a family that was in need of a new furnace this winter. We got hundreds of nominations during the nomination period, and it was clear that we have a very generous community here in Evansville. There were many deserving nominees, but as we looked through the choices, one stood out. We had an overwhelming amount of nominations for Geneva Hicks-Barker. Geneva faced a terrible tragedy over the winter. She lost two grandchildren and her son when a car involved in a police chase crashed into their car. Many friends and community members nominated her, knowing that she had been dealing with furnace problems for some time and wasn’t able to take care of it because of her family tragedy. Her furnace was over 50 years old, and had completely stopped working at the beginning of winter. When our technicians went to Geneva’s house to find a temporary fix before the new unit could be installed, the temperature was in the 40s. But we teamed up with Lennox to install a brand new furnace/coil, air conditioner, thermostat, and air cleaner in Geneva’s house to keep her comfortable all year round. The unit is high efficiency, so it will save the family money on energy bills every month. The family has never had air conditioning in the house, so the new system will be able to help Geneva and her family in every season. “I really feel blessed, I really do. It just lets you know the kind of community you’re in,” she told 14 News when she learned she was the giveaway winner. Bryce Brackett, our General Manager here at Brackett Heating and Air, said when asked about the giveaway, “We just wanted to help out a family.” All of our team at Brackett Heating and Air is proud to have been able to play a part in making life easier and more comfortable for a deserving family.

For Quality Heater Repair, Evansville Homeowners Trust Brackett Heating and Air Conditioning

As the cold weather season finally comes near an end, homeowners need to take a few simple steps to retire their furnaces for the summer. You want to make sure everything is in order for the next winter. After all, you wouldn’t want the first cold snap to be met with a heater that doesn’t function properly. Do you know what steps to take to prepare your furnace for summer? That was a trick question. You only need to take one step to prepare your furnace for the summer months. Call us and set an appointment. You see, there are little things you do to help maintain your furnace, like changing out the filters when necessary. However, you are probably not qualified to understand the features of your furnace that need to be inspected. Our qualified technicians will properly inspect your heating system and you can rest easy at night knowing you and your family are safe. Many older style furnaces are void of the safety features we see on newer units. Over time, cracks can develop in furnaces that are undetectable to the eye. These cracks can allow carbon monoxide to leak into the air. Without a carbon monoxide detector, this can be a deadly occurrence. One very good reason to have a professional look over your heating system. An in-home inspection will also expose any problems with the motor and the other components that keep your furnace running efficiently. Come next winter, you will be confident that your heating system is ready to take on the bitter cold. Our comprehensive furnace services include checking and tuning such components as the heat exchanger, electrical connections and gas pressure. For quality heater repair, Evansville homeowners trust Brackett Heating and Air Conditioning.
